Not even a year after cutting the ribbon on Design Miami/ Paris, organizers are about to unveil their first Los Angeles edition in the former Georgian Revival home of designer Max Azria in Holmby Hills. The event will welcome artist Peter Shire, a design scene fixture known for injecting humor and wild spirit into his designs since the ’70s.

The fair will showcase more than 15 international collectible design gallery exhibitors and Design at Large programming at the private Holmby Hills estate originally designed by architect Paul R. Williams. This estate was also the former home of Max Azria.

In a major global rebranding, Design Miami has been acquired by online marketplace Basic.Space and revamped under the guidance of Henrik Purienne. Purienne’s rebrand focuses on the concept of “Living With Design,” emphasizing minimalist graphics and candid photography.

The Los Angeles edition will highlight works from various artists, including interiors-to-fashion designer Faye Toogood and Samuel Ross. The Design at Large program will feature designs from English ceramics firm 1882 Ltd., crafted in collaboration with Oscar-winning set designer Shona Heath.

Los Angeles has been described as a nexus of global taste, influenced by the entertainment industry, car culture, and Space Age engineering. The rise in creative talent across key cities has led to a growing market for collectible art, particularly among the younger generation of collectors in Los Angeles.
